Elizabeth Redenbarger Plew

Elizabeth (Liz) Wright - Redenbarger – Plew, Age 83, passed away at the Cloverleaf Health Care Facility in Knightsville, Indiana on Sunday January 31, 2010. She had been in failing health for a few months.
Elizabeth was born May 18, 1926 in East Glenn to Sherman and Nellie Wright. She attended Ashboro Elementary, Brazil High, and Indiana State University.
Elizabeth’s surviving family members include Sisters Naomi Boswell, Carbon, Indiana, Kathleen Acton of Camby, Indiana and Brother Donald Wright, Kingsburg, California. Also surviving is her only son, Philip Redenbarger of Centerpoint and daughter in law Patricia Redenbarger. Additional survivors include granddaughter Lisa Coughanowr and husband John C. Coughanowr II along with great grandchildren Alec and Carli Coughanowr all of Brazil. Elizabeth’s family included siblings Hildred, Ruth, Richard, and Lex, who are all deceased.
Elizabeth’s father Sherman was a coal miner who raised his family during the thirties’ Great Depression by moving from mine site to mine site in Clay and Vigo Counties as work was available. Her mother Nellie was a homemaker who “raised seven kids on a miner’s pay” in the 1930’s. As a child and young lady Elizabeth lived in East Glenn, Ashboro, and Prairie City.
On December 7, 1943 Liz was married to Donald Redenbarger who remained her husband until his death in June, 2002. They lived their entire lives together at 339 East State Road 42 in Clay County, Indiana. Liz worked at GC Murphy’s as a sales clerk (1956-1959) and Chaney’s Jewelry Shop in sales (1959-1960) in Brazil. She was also employed by Colombia Records in customer service (1960 – 1977) and JC Penny as a sales clerk (1978 – 1980) in Terre Haute. Liz, much like her siblings and close relatives, was gifted with the ability to sing, play musical instruments, write poetry, and create needle point. She owned and operated the “Knitting Nook” on State road 42 from 1980 to 1986 making and selling her needle point creations. Liz had a fascination for beautiful automobiles and was seldom without one.
After Donald’s death she remarried Alfred Plew in July 2003 and moved to Terre Haute. Liz and Alfred enjoyed five years together traveling and with friends. Alfred passed away in 2009.
Liz was a member of the Prairie City and Ashboro small country churches and was devoted to her religion and family.

Funeral Information
Services for Liz will be at the French Funeral Home in Brazil with visitation on Wednesday, February 3 from 4-8pm and services at 11:00 AM on Thursday February 4. Burial will be at the Kaelber Cemetery on east Sate Road 42. Pallbearers include Michael Boswell, Larry Acton, Winford Acton, Jim Owens, John Coughanowr II, and Alec Coughanowr. Honorary Pallbearer is Paul Redenbarger.
