Margaret “Aunt Peggy” Ellen Kerins James, 93, passed away August 25, 2010 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital. She was born on September 1, 1916, in Brazil, to Emmet and Coila Rebecca (Biddle) Kerins. She married George Jesse James on June 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1984. She was a graduate of Brazil High School class of 1935. She attended St. Mary’s of The Woods College for 1 year. She had worked as a waitress several places before and after her marriage. She had also done factory work in Terre Haute and in Lisbon, Ohio. Margaret was a member of the First Christian Church. She had been active in the Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class and The Best Years Club. She was a 50 year member of Order of the Eastern Star chapter #80. Margaret was especially proud of having been chosen Area 7 Senior Queen in 1985. She had also volunteered at a Gray Lady at Clay County Hospital. Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Biddle Kerins Kaelber. Surviving are nieces Alice Ann Courtney, Mary Margaret Sauvain, Yvonne Hill, and Sondra Davis plus nephews Dick Lumsdon, Don Lumsdon, Jim Lumsdon, Jay Lumsdon, Tom Powell and special friend, Rhonda Allsup. Funeral InformationThe funeral will be at French Funeral Home Monday, August 30, 2010 at 1:00pm. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday from 11am until time of services. |
