September 16, 1923 - January 23, 2012

Louella “Louise” Davis, 88, of Harmony, passed away January 23, 2012 at Cloverleaf Health Care, in Knightsville, IN following an extended illness.

Louise was born in Charleston, IL September 16, 1923. Her family moved to Clay County in the late 30’s. Here she met Frank Davis whom she married December 4, 1941. They were married for 65 years. Along with her husband Louise owned and operated Davis Market in Brazil and the Highway Market in East Glenn.

After retirement she and Frank traveled around the world stopping on 6 of the 7 continents. They worked with "Operation Classroom" as Christian Missionary’s traveling to Sierra Leone, Africa several times. They continued their work at home by collecting and sending many classroom supplies and donations to Sierra Leone.

Louise was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and great grandmother. She truly enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren!

She was preceded in death by her mother Inez Pearl (Craig) Wright; husband Frank Davis; son Donald Davis; grandson Jason Allan Stearley.

Survivors include her son Frank Davis (Rebecca) of Zionsville, IN; daughter Deborah Stearley (Jack) of Brazil; grandchildren: Heather Sheehan (Patrick), Myra Priser (James), Sara Davis-Whitcomb (Jon), Michael Davis (Anne), Melissa Garner (T.J) and Jana Stearley and 14 great grandchildren; brother LaVon Motley of Lake Placid, Florida; sisters-in-law Dixie Shorter of Brazil, and Betty Jane Harrington of Detroit, Michigan; as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Funeral Information

Services will be at French Funeral Home, Friday, January 27, 2012 at 1:00pm with Rev. Tom True officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 11am until time of services.
